National Television Reporter
Welcome! I'm Emmy Victor, an award winning journalist based in Chicago. I have about 10 years of experience reporting for television newscasts around the country.
I joined the AccuWeather Channel in 2020 as a National Weather Reporter and Multimedia Journalist. You can find me traveling around the country, reporting on severe weather events and climate change. My reports often get picked up by our content partners, including ABC and USA Today.
Prior to AccuWeather, I spent one year as a digital Anchor/Host for The Hill in Washington, D.C. In my role, I anchored several political and business segments published on thehill.com and the company's social media platforms.
Before then, I spent three years as a morning live reporter at WRAL-TV, the NBC affiliate in Raleigh, North Carolina. During my time in Raleigh, I covered a number of stories that garnered national attention, including hurricanes Florence and Matthew, the repeal of the controversial bathroom bill widely known as HB-2, Duke University and the University of North Carolina reaching NCAA men's basketball championship games, the toppling of the Silent Sam confederate monument in Chapel Hill and a deadly gas explosion in downtown Durham.
I began my career as a general assignment reporter at KCCI-TV, the CBS affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa. In my two years reporting from the Hawkeye state, I interviewed several presidential candidates leading up to the 2016 Iowa Caucuses.
I have a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Howard University, where I served as an editor of the school newspaper. I interned in six newsrooms during my time in Washington, D.C. I am a proud native of Newark, New Jersey and a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. I love to emcee events in the community and mentor student journalists. I am passionate about multi-platform reporting and have experience shooting, editing and writing scripts for television and digital platforms.
